Imidacloprid highly effective against leafhoppers. - 10/26/2011

I had a serious problem with grape leafhoppers and nothing was working. I finally tried Imidacloprid applied to the soil as a systemic in combination with Carbyal (Sevin) applied to the leaves. The leafhoppers were completely gone in a few weeks. Be aware though, that Imidacloprid is hazardous for bees and probably should not be applied to flowering plants that attract them.
Scale and Ash Borer - 01/19/2011

Our Ash trees have been suffering from a severe problem with Scale, there were drippings on everything, and of course the wet drippings quickly molded and turned everything black. We were also worried about Emerald Ash Borer.
We tried various products, and got NO results. Last year I tried Imidacloprid 75 WSB as a ground applicaton. One packet mix with water, per large tree, drenching the ground above the root line. The Scale problem was completely cured within one month. (we had had this problem for 2 years). In the fall, we cut down 3 of our large Ash tree's to build a pole barn. We checked very closely for Ash Borer, and found absolutely no evidence of them. I am very impressed with the product, and plan to use the liquid version this summer.
