What are the main differences between the Pfanner Arborist Chainsaw Pants and the Pfanner Gladiator Chainsaw Pants?
The Arborist version features stretch-air fabric on both the front and back. This makes them more climber friendly. The Gladiator pants have an extremely tough cordura material on the front, making them much more abrasion resistant. This makes them better for ground and forestry work.

Just got these. So far so good. They do seem a little heavy and think that in the heat of the summer they may be a little hot. But they are comfy and my wife says they look good.
Great Pants - 04/05/2015
Must have climbing pants for anyone working with a chainsaw in trees. Breathable mesh helps with flexibility and ventilation. Can get hot during summer, but worth it for the protection it provides.

These were the first pair of Pfanners I had the joy of wearing. If it wasn't for my experience with the Stretch Air Arborist version I would give these a 5 star rating.
They are a little heavier, to the point of it being pretty noticeable on hot days. There has been a couple crane removals where I have been soaked right through these. As far as durability, the Gladiator material can't be beat.
It does however have a weakness for handsaw tears, one of my coworkers has a couple holes in a couple pairs from cutting close on a follow through. Try to keep the handsaw at least a foot away at all times!
Although the holes, if they do happen do not tear with fibers due to the cross stitch pattern in the Gladiator material.
I wear these year round in my saw pant rotation, but they are too hot for some. I have heard rumors of a lighter version in Germany called the "Summer Gladiators".
The backside is all stretch air, so it regulates your temperature passably well in my books.
These pants are second only to the Stretch Air Arborist Pants in my books. I wear them to avoid getting sap on my other pair!

I'm 5'7" 140lbs. generally wearing a 30x30 pant size. I ordered the small, short pant, and they fit like a glove. So far I've only used them in winter weather, but I'm extremely happy with my purchase. A little thin on the material in the back, but that will be nice once the warm temps roll around. Either way, lots cheaper than a trip to the ER.
