Everyone loves a rope swing, but not everyone knows the right way to set one up! Grab a TreeStuff Rope Swing Kit and follow this step-by-step guide on making your own pro rope swing.

Step 1: Access The Limb You Want

Included in the rope swing kit is a small diameter line called throwline and a heavy little bag called a throw weight. Tie the throw line to the metal ring on the throw weight and then chuck it over the limb you want your swing to hang from. The kit comes with enough rope to set up on a limb almost 50 feet from the ground, which can be tough to hit. You can learn some tricks on throwing your line into the tree here.

Step 2: Pull The Rope Into The Tree

Once your throw line is where you want it, all you have to do is tie the provided rope onto your throwline and pull the throwline until the line is over the limb.

Step 3: Attach the Delta Link

Open the Delta Link (the triangular metal thing) by unscrewing the gate. Slide the eye of the climbing rope onto the Delta Link, and put the other end of the line inside of it as well. Make sure to close the Delta Link!

Step 4: Choke the Line Onto the Limb

Now you can pull on the end of the line that does not have the eye splice, and the line will cinch around the limb, giving you a secure attachment that won't damage the tree, and will allow the tree to grow.

Step 5: Finish The Seat

Now you can attach your seat (not included)! Drill two holes in a piece of wood, or get fancy - it's up to you. Just thread the rope through and make a simple knot underneath the seat. We recommend cutting off the excess rope after making the cut, and then using a lighter to quickly seal the cut end of the rope.

Step 6: Have Fun!
