The Rescue Scenario

Your crew is hired to prune a large tree in the customer's backyard. The tree is assessed as generally safe and healthy, so your new climber - Dean "Speed Demon" Warton - sets up his SRS climbing system with a base-anchor, and an second emergency access line in the tree.

Dean starts trimming a large lower limb. Your crew isn't using a Port-a-Wrap, and Dean has removed all the brush and there's only 4' to 8' left, so he lanyards-in around the trunk, but underneath the limb. The limb snapped halfway through the cut, and as it fell it snagged his lanyard, pinning him to the tree.

Your crew notices that Dean slammed his head into the trunk when the limb fell and is unconscious. He's pinned to the tree with so much weight that you're worried about his ability to breathe.

There are no ladders or bucket trucks available, so you'll need to rescue him!
